Sodium, oh sodium, ancient enemy of mine,
Throughout my life you have hindered me,
Though I knew not your line,
Long have I sought to be free.

Everywhere in my food you have hidden,
Causing my body liquids to store,
Increased blood pressure you have bidden,
To build in my body, but no more.

Now with diuretics and homemade food products,
Your hold on me has been beaten down,
I have removed you from my cardio defects,
In excess stored water I no longer drown.

In excess, a bane you always will be,
But through drugs and hard work, you don’t bother me.
