Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater
Had a wife and couldn't keep her
Put her in a pumpkin shell
There he kept her very well

This is an all to familiar theme in fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Spousal abuse, enslavement of children, cannibalism. For centuries, these crimes have gone unchecked causing the suffering of countless characters. In many instances, the abuse has led to further violence as the oppressed rise against the villains and seek revenge.

This cycle must stop. The rage, the torment, the eating, all of these things must be brought to an end. What can you do? Volunteerism is the key. If you can spend just one hour a week with a fictional person, you can guide that person to a productive life without violence and pain. You can make a difference to a person who would simply repeat the same old story. You can help.

If we all pitch in, maybe someday, everyone can live happily ever after.
